Next week, a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group will take place at NATO headquarters. It is scheduled for February 12. The meeting will be chaired by the United Kingdom.
This was announced by the British mission to NATO on social media platform X. It is noted that the meeting will occur just before the gathering of defense ministers from NATO countries, where the priorities for supporting Ukraine will be discussed.
"Defense Minister John Healey will hold the 26th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO headquarters on Wednesday, February 12, in the afternoon," the statement said.
The international community continues to collaborate to support Ukraine in its fight against Putin's unlawful invasion. It was previously reported that the meetings of the Ukraine Contact Group, known as the "Ramstein format," were initiated by the United States to coordinate international assistance to Ukraine in countering Russian aggression. This forum brings together efforts from more than 50 countries, including NATO members.
It is noteworthy that the fact that the meeting in the Ramstein format on February 12 will not be chaired by the United States is a new development. This change is occurring for the first time.
On January 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to Germany, where he participated in the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. The head of state stated that he is doing everything possible to end the war by 2025. He also criticized partners for the supply of air defense systems and announced that Ukraine aims to set a record in the quantity and quality of drones.
According to the president, Ukraine is doing everything possible to end the war by 2025. The cessation of the war is a common goal for Ukraine and its partners, rather than for Russia.
Later, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported that the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (known as the "Ramstein format") has already been scheduled and will take place in February. Participants plan to enhance U.S. involvement and also aim to engage European countries in coordinating assistance to Ukraine.
