Мир через силу: Трамп намерен продолжить поставки оружия Украине после инаугурации.

Donald Trump, the newly elected president of the United States, plans to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine after his inauguration. Support for Kyiv from the Trump administration may be expected from Western countries that are concerned about their ability to independently provide Ukraine with necessary resources. Trump hopes that his stance will help reassure nations worried about maintaining Kyiv without Washington's backing.

According to journalists from the Financial Times, high-ranking officials from the United Kingdom who visited the U.S. in early December noted that Trump is opposed to Ukraine's NATO membership. He seeks a quicker end to the war but believes that supplying weapons after a ceasefire will ensure what's known as "peace through strength."

One official remarked that "Trump's team has the power and desire to appear strong." He stated that they are therefore reassessing their approach to ending the war in Ukraine. However, Trump’s team has not yet devised a solution for the conflict. This clearly indicates that support for Ukraine will continue even after the inauguration of elected U.S. President Donald Trump, reports FT.

In particular, the publication's journalists noted Trump's comments suggesting that the conflict in Ukraine could be resolved within six months. According to European officials quoted by the publication, the Trump administration fears that their actions could be compared to the "catastrophic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan" under Joe Biden, "a repetition of which they would not want to see in Ukraine under Trump's office."

Two sources close to the publication revealed that Trump also plans to demand a significant increase in defense spending from NATO countries. Currently, Alliance nations are expected to spend 2% of their GDP on defense. However, the newly elected U.S. president aims to raise this figure to 5%.

Peace Negotiations and Timelines for Ending the War

On December 18, Keith Kellogg, Trump’s representative on Ukraine, stated that Ukraine and Russia are ready to engage in peace talks. He specifically mentioned that with Donald Trump’s election as president of the United States, opportunities for achieving peace will emerge. Meanwhile, Sky News reported that Joe Biden will not be able to send military aid to Ukraine by the end of the year.

It is worth noting that the British Foreign Secretary predicts that the war in Ukraine could end by the end of April. The key focus is on negotiations with both sides of the conflict, coordinated by special representative Keith Kellogg. Previously, Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine within "6 months." However, it turned out that he was actually referring to potential timelines for a meeting with Putin, not the cessation of hostilities.
