Трамп и Путин могут встретиться в марте — в России и Германии заговорили о переговорах.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin may hold a meeting as early as March 2025. This was announced by Leonid Slutsky, the head of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs, following discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Some German politicians have also confirmed the spring meeting date.

Meanwhile, there have been no official confirmations or announcements regarding such a meeting from Washington.

"February or March, we won't speculate and will allow the leaders to prepare thoroughly and competently for it, but it will happen soon," Slutsky was quoted by Russian media.

In Germany, the possibility of such negotiations is also considered. Bundestag member and spokesperson on security for the main opposition party CDU, Roderich Kiesewetter, stated that the meeting between Trump and Putin is "scheduled for March".

"Let everyone draw their own conclusions on this matter... All negotiations and agreements currently being reached in this situation are at the expense of Ukraine and, de facto, mean its subjugation," he wrote on social media X (his post has since been deleted - ed.)

Additionally, Kiesewetter mentioned that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz might meet with Putin before February 23 – the date of parliamentary elections in Germany. It is possible that the talks could take place in Moscow.

What Putin and Trump said about the meeting

Putin himself has previously stated that he is ready for dialogue with Trump and that they "have things to discuss." Trump, in turn, recently confirmed that negotiations with Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine are already underway, and he intends to personally communicate with Putin. However, he did not specify any details regarding the timing and format of such contacts.

It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump's ultimatum to Russia did not impress Vladimir Putin at all. Moreover, it is unlikely that Putin is inclined to take seriously statements about the new American leader being ready to make things worse for Russia.
