Trump has reaffirmed his intention to acquire Greenland and the Panama Canal, stating that the use of force is not off the table.

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has confirmed plans to take control of Greenland, which is owned by Denmark, and to bring the Panama Canal back under U.S. jurisdiction. He also did not rule out the possibility of using military force should Denmark or Panama disagree with these actions.
Использование силы не исключается: Трамп подтвердил намерение забрать Гренландию и Панамский канал.

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has confirmed plans to take control of Greenland, which belongs to Denmark, and to return the Panama Canal under the jurisdiction of the United States. He has also refused to rule out the use of military force in case Denmark or Panama disagrees with this.

Trump made this statement during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. Specifically, he mentioned that he would not take on any commitments regarding the non-use of military force or economic pressure against Denmark or Panama.

"I am not going to take on any commitments regarding this. No. You might have to do something... We need Greenland for national security purposes. People don't even know if Denmark has any legitimate right to it, but if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security," he stated.

The ironic situation is that both the United States and Denmark are NATO members. Thus, if the U.S. attempts to forcibly take Greenland from Denmark, it would result in a military conflict between members of the same Alliance. In fact, this could ultimately undermine the significance of Article 5 of the NATO Charter and destroy the organization as such.

Additionally, on January 7, the eldest son of the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, arrived in Greenland for a private visit. Officially, he is reportedly filming videos there, but this visit has intensified speculation that the new U.S. administration may attempt to take control of the Danish territory. In Greenland itself, there are currently denials of any transfer of sovereignty, and the King of Denmark has reinforced Greenland's position on the country's coat of arms.

Earlier, Trump also expressed grievances against Panama regarding excessive fees for using the Panama Canal. The Republican emphasized that if the management of this vital transportation artery becomes unacceptable, the United States may initiate the process of regaining control of the canal. Trump has also opposed transferring management of the canal to China.
