Despite the defense minister's statements that Ukrainian drones accounted for 96.2% of the UAVs supplied to the Defense Forces in 2024, the primary reconnaissance role on the battlefield is still being fulfilled by Chinese devices. Recently, it was revealed that the director of the Defense Procurement Agency, Marina Bezrukova, paid 1 billion hryvnias at the end of the year for Polish wing-type UAVs, even though the Ukrainian drone industry produces significantly better and cheaper alternatives.

“You all know about the ‘Shark’, ‘Furia’, and ‘Aist’ drones – these aircraft perform reconnaissance and fire adjustment functions for our artillery. Despite the fact that the manufacturing enterprises are not overloaded with orders and Ukrainian drones cost at least two to three times less, the Ministry of Defense, for unclear reasons, is contracting Polish drones!” he emphasized.
Moreover, Miselyuk claims that by November 13-15, nearly 1 billion hryvnias had been pre-paid to the Poles. According to him, for the price of each Polish UAV, one could purchase 4 (!) ‘Shark’ drones, which currently have no equal in optics and flight capabilities on the world market. Or 3 ‘Furia’ drones, which are used by our artillery for fire adjustment.
“And what do we have – volunteers continue to raise funds for ‘Sharks’, while the Defense Procurement Agency invests in a foreign economy, buying much more expensive drones,” Miselyuk concluded.
