The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, made a statement in an interview with Russian propagandist Skabeeva, filled with numerous falsehoods. He claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly reached out to the European Union requesting to place nuclear weapons, but the West refused him. He also expressed a desire to visit Moscow on May 9.
"The plan for victory cannot involve someone offering their territory, for instance for the placement of nuclear weapons. Or someone saying: 'Give me medium and long-range missiles, and I'll use them against targets on Russian territory,'" Fico stated in the interview with Skabeeva.
According to Fico, Zelensky requested the deployment of nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory, but the allies declined. His statement contradicts a leak in the New York Times regarding long-range Tomahawk missiles, which Zelensky actually proposed to provide to Ukraine in the post-war period. On October 30, during a meeting with Icelandic journalists, Zelensky effectively confirmed the accuracy of the NYT information about Tomahawks capable of striking at 2400 km. Meanwhile, the head of state complained about the lack of confidentiality from Ukraine's partners.
Fico also claimed that the EU is supposedly tired of the war in Ukraine. He added that the allies no longer wish to be involved in this conflict.
"We turn a blind eye and say: 'Here’s your weapon, here’s your money, fight, just don’t bother us with this, we simply don’t want to have anything to do with this war anymore,'" cynically remarked Fico.
In the opinion of the Slovak Prime Minister, the Ukrainian "victory plan" will only contribute to escalating the situation rather than resolving it. He stated that the Ukrainian leader asked allies for "nuclear weapons," but in the EU, "there is an instinct for self-preservation."
Furthermore, Fico expressed a desire to visit Moscow during the May 9 parade and his readiness for negotiations with Putin. He also assessed the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia as unsuccessful, believing that they will not weaken Moscow.
Additionally, the Prime Minister mentioned his fears of potential new assassination attempts in the near future. Previously, an assassination attempt was made on his life, and he later received bullets in an envelope.
The pro-Russian leader of Slovakia, Fico, has repeatedly made scandalous statements regarding Ukraine. At one point, he brazenly stated that as long as he remains in office, Ukraine has no chances of joining NATO. At the same time, Fico cautiously supported Ukraine's accession to the European Union but said that this process would take a long time.
Fico also claimed that Western countries are trying to sustain the war in Ukraine to "bring the Russians to their knees". He asserted that the military conflict cannot be resolved through force.
Moreover, during his visit to the Holocaust Museum in Sereď, Fico accused Ukrainian soldiers of "Nazi" actions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that such remarks contradict the level of trust and cooperation between the countries.
Let us remind you that Fico had a visit to Ukraine. The reasons for his visit were analyzed by the Informant in a separate article.
