NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has arrived in Turkey for a visit, where he met with the country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The politicians discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine. Additionally, they touched on the crisis in the Middle East.
This was reported by DHA, citing a statement from the Turkish president's communications office. During the meeting, they talked about “what can be done to stop the Russian-Ukrainian war”, as well as the situation in the Gaza Strip.
For his part, Rutte stated that he discussed with Erdoğan “the growing challenges to collective security.” Specifically, the threats of terrorism, the war in Ukraine, and the crisis in the Middle East.
“In an increasingly unpredictable world, Turkey is making an invaluable contribution to NATO,” – wrote the NATO Secretary General on X.

Erdoğan has long lobbied for ideas to end the war; however, it has now come to yet another plan with certain ideas. Officially, he has not announced anything yet, but Bloomberg assures that it has learned about Ankara's plans.
According to journalists, the foundation of the program is quite predictable: it includes freezing the war along the current front line, establishing a demilitarized zone, and deploying a military contingent as an additional guarantee. Interestingly, Kyiv would postpone the issue of NATO membership for 10 years, while continuing to receive arms supplies. All these points were supposedly to be presented a week ago at the G20 forum, which the Turkish leader attended. However, this did not happen.
Later, the Center for Combating Disinformation of the Turkish presidential administration's communications directorate denied these statements about Erdoğan's presentation of his plan. At the same time, they added that Turkey supports diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.
