The father of MP Tarasov from the "Servants" hired lobbyists for 2 million UAH while being on the run: this is their version of the fight against corruption.

The matter at hand is that Sergey Tarasov, an agribusinessman from Kirovohrad region and the father of a member of parliament from the "Servant of the People" party, has hired an American lobbying firm to convey his perspective on Ukrainian corruption to the United States.

This became known thanks to information shared on the Telegram channel "Chorna Skrynya."

According to the publication's authors, Tarasov paid $54,000 for the lobbyists' services. Their task is to explain to American officials and journalists how "the Ukrainian government persecutes private business and fosters corruption."

Tarasov himself is wanted for fraud, money laundering, and illegal possession of weapons. He is also involved in a criminal case regarding illegal land acquisition.

Interestingly, his son, Oleg Tarasov, is a member of parliament from "Servant of the People" and is part of the agricultural committee of the Verkhovna Rada. It's hard to imagine a more fitting position if your father owns a large land bank.

This story highlights the profound irony in the actions of certain Ukrainian politicians and their entourages. Against the backdrop of international support for Ukraine, such a scandal could inflict reputational damage and heighten attention to the genuine fight against corruption in the country.
