Trump's special representative, Keith Kellogg, had planned to arrive in Ukraine at the beginning of January before Trump's inauguration. However, it was unexpectedly announced that he canceled his visit and will come after January 20. There is an opinion that this is rather bad news for Ukraine, even though political analysts assert the opposite.

It is quite possible that the Trump team was alarmed by Ukraine's attempt to advance in the Kursk region. Additionally, there were statements made by Zelensky regarding the new U.S. president's inability to quickly halt the war.

Moreover, there is a belief that the Trump team already has all the decisions ready to end the conflict, but his administration does not want to discuss them with Ukraine in advance. This is rather bad news, yet Ukrainian political experts are hesitant to comment on it. Instead, they assert that the reason for Kellogg's canceled visit is the Trump administration's intention to adjust its positions based on new information that has emerged within the Trump team:

"The reason here is quite simple and is related to the fact that Trump doesn't even have a rough plan for ending the war in Ukraine," believes political scientist Igor Reiterovich. "The Americans currently have nothing to offer Kyiv, which is why they decided to take a pause."

Earlier, the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga also commented on Keith Kellogg's canceled visit. He stated that Kyiv is always "happy to welcome American friends".

"And I am confident that this meeting will take place in due time, and we are in contact to clearly define the timeframe for holding it, to ensure that this meeting is filled with maximum substance," emphasized Sybiga.

It is noteworthy that the cancellation of Kellogg's visit was announced simultaneously with Trump's press conference at Mar-a-Lago, during which the elected president gave a rather unequivocal answer regarding the fact that Ukraine will never become a NATO member. He also confirmed his intention to end the war in a short timeframe.

Previously, Democratic Secretary of State Anthony Blinken claimed that the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over territories in Kursk is critically important for Kyiv's negotiating position. He noted that the administration of the current U.S. President Joe Biden wants to provide Ukraine with as much assistance as possible to counter Russian aggression.
