The most crucial negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine will take place in Warsaw. Next week, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski will host a meeting in the "Weimar Triangle Plus" format. This meeting will play a significant role in addressing the cessation of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Regarding the upcoming meeting of the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Ukraine in Warsaw, Radoslaw Sikorski announced this in Katowice, referencing Friday's call between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin. He also emphasized that he exchanged information on this matter with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
"It is very good that the German Chancellor almost immediately reported this conversation to the Polish Prime Minister. From what the Chancellor says, it follows that he presented something that Poland agrees with. Namely, that no decisions regarding Ukraine can be made without Ukraine," Sikorski stated.
The Foreign Minister was also asked about Ukrainian President Zelensky's criticism of Scholz's conversation with Putin. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the Chancellor's call to Vladimir Putin opens a Pandora's box. The Ukrainian leader also noted that this would lead to calls from other politicians, which would not bring peace and would only weaken Putin's isolation.
In response, the Polish Foreign Minister said that he is not yet aware of Zelensky's statement on the matter. However, he mentioned that "things are accelerating."
He clarified that, in addition to the foreign ministers of France and Germany, he expects representatives from other important European countries to join the meetings. The Foreign Minister of Ukraine and the new High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, have also been invited.
"As we can see, the most important negotiations regarding this crisis will take place in Warsaw," he emphasized.
When asked if he would speak directly with the President of Russia, Sikorski replied that he would tell him, first and foremost, what he said to the Russian representative at the UN Security Council.
"Stop lying to the world and to yourself about this war. Secondly, Russia has enough land and does not need to conquer the lands of its neighbors. And he (Putin - ed.) must withdraw his army back to Russia," added Radoslaw Sikorski.
US President-elect Donald Trump stated on November 14 that his administration will work diligently to end the Russian-Ukrainian war. The reports of thousands of military and civilian casualties shocked the Republican. Therefore, efforts must focus on establishing peace.
Previously, Trump shared his plans for his first week in office. Among the key issues he intends to address is the goal of bringing Kyiv and Moscow to the negotiating table. The Republican will also pay attention to immigration issues, education reform, and federal government restructuring, and he wants to pardon individuals who were punished for the Capitol riot that occurred back in 2021.
