Snipers, water police, and dogs: Berlin has heightened security measures ahead of Zelensky's visit.

Security measures in Berlin have been heightened due to the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Initially, these precautions were intended for the visit of U.S. President Joe Biden. However, since Biden canceled his trip to Berlin, the security level remains elevated because of Zelensky's arrival.

In Berlin, security measures have been intensified due to the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Initially, similar steps were planned in connection with the visit of U.S. President Joe Biden. However, since he canceled his trip to Berlin, the security level remains high due to the arrival of Volodymyr Zelensky.

This information has been reported by German media. In particular, the Süddeutsche Zeitung states that Zelensky requires secure conditions during his visit to the country.

On Friday, October 11, Zelensky will meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin.

To ensure safety, several roads will be closed and barriers will be set up in the government district. The police are deploying a significant number of officers.

Representatives of the police union have stated that the high level of threat to Zelensky necessitates a comprehensive approach to security, utilizing all available resources.

As for Zelensky's route from the airport to the center of Berlin, there is currently no precise information: he may arrive in a convoy or by helicopter. It is expected that the area around Bellevue Palace, the official residence of President Steinmeier, as well as other government buildings, will be closed off. Security measures typically involve snipers and specialized police units, as well as water police with boats on the Spree River and service dogs for bomb checks. Residents of Berlin should be prepared for possible traffic delays and parking restrictions, the publication advises.

Cancellation of Ramstein

The meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine Defense, scheduled for October 12 at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, has been postponed. This was reported by Radio Free Europe, citing sources at NATO headquarters. The reason for the rescheduling is the approach of super hurricane Milton towards the U.S., which led U.S. President Joe Biden to cancel his visit to Germany.

Additionally, Secretary of State Antony Blinken will not be able to attend the meeting. The Pentagon is currently determining a new date for the meeting, which is likely to take place on October 17-18 during the NATO defense ministers' meeting.

The meeting was to be held at the leaders' level and was considered significant for Ukraine, as President Zelensky planned to present a strategy for achieving victory in the war against Russia to partners.

Meanwhile, Zelensky has not postponed his visit to Berlin. Within a day, the president will hold talks with four key partners of Ukraine, whose support is crucial for the "military component of strengthening" the country. Specifically, in addition to Scholz, he will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. It was also reported that Zelensky made during his visit to Croatia on October 9.
