The winner of the U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump, shared his plans for his first week in office. Among the key issues he intends to address is the goal of bringing Kyiv and Moscow to the negotiating table. The Republican will also focus on immigration issues, education reform, and changes to the federal government, as well as plans to pardon individuals serving sentences for the Capitol riot that occurred in 2021.
Details about Trump's first week plans were shared by the AP. It is noted that the Republican does not plan to act as a dictator, except for his first day in office. However, he stated that there is much work to be done in the White House. Among the work-related issues for Trump's first week in the White House are the following:
"I want to close the border, and I want to drill, drill, drill," he said regarding his plans for the first day.
According to Trump's press secretary, Caroline Levitt, a significant number of executive orders are expected from Trump during his first week. She clearly stated that Trump will make every effort to achieve a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
"This will include, on the first day, bringing Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table to end this war," she emphasized.
Trump spoke with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on November 7. This conversation was the first following the Republican's decisive victory in the U.S. presidential election. According to The Washington Post, a key topic of discussion was the end of the war in Ukraine. Trump advised Putin not to escalate the conflict. He also mentioned that a significant number of American troops are present in Europe. The publication claimed that Kyiv was informed about this phone call from Trump.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied this information. Spokesman Georgiy Tikhiy stated on November 11 that official Kyiv is unaware of any negotiations between Trump and Putin. Tikhiy emphasized that Kyiv had not been informed about the conversation between the American and Russian leaders. He also rejected the information released in the media, calling it false.
