The former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the current Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, believes that the primary strategy for achieving victory in the future is the establishment of a "resilience" system in the country. He argues that the rapid advancement of technology paves the way for a war of attrition. In such a scenario, political objectives are achieved through the depletion of the opponent's resources.
Zaluzhnyi shared these insights at an international defense seminar organized by the Royal Netherlands Army and the Bundeswehr. The event was dedicated to discussing defense prospects and preparing for the challenges of 2030. Here are the key points he outlined:
Zaluzhnyi emphasized that the experience Ukraine has gained during the current war is invaluable for all allies. This experience helps to foresee what defense might look like in the future.
"Thanks to Ukraine's experience in modern warfare, I outlined the logic of technological development on the battlefield, production, and innovations. I appreciate the generals and officers for discussing the trends I proposed," the ambassador stated.
After the meeting, Zaluzhnyi shared an informal selfie with his wife Olena on Facebook, taken in an elevator. Olena posed in black leggings and a fluffy jacket, while Zaluzhnyi wore a dark blue jacket. The happy couple appeared relaxed and in harmony.
The former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine expressed during his speech at Chatham House on October 17 that it is almost impossible to exit the state of "protracted" war with Russia. Zaluzhnyi reminded that back in 2023, Kyiv did not receive sufficient military assistance from the West. This is precisely why the counteroffensive did not yield "significant successes in defeating Russia."
He stated that the war itself waged by Russia against Ukraine has taken on a positional nature with static and exhausting battles. All of this allows Russia to restore its military capabilities. Zaluzhnyi also mentioned that the conscription of women into the war may become a reality if the need arises. However, efforts should be made to prevent this;
He also noted that Ukraine has already lost over 30,000 people killed and hundreds of thousands injured during the full-scale war. The former Commander-in-Chief referred to the Victory Plan presented by Volodymyr Zelensky, articulated recently, as logical and correct. For more on Zaluzhnyi's statements, read our article.
Additionally, Valerii Zaluzhnyi plans to publish his own books - an entire trilogy. The first of the three books titled "My War" has already been written, which bears a striking resemblance to the title of Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf," often regarded as the most popular and simultaneously the most dangerous book in the world. "My War" is set to be released soon in Ukrainian bookstores.
