ЦПД предупреждает о волне мирных инициатив перед инаугурацией Трампа: стоит ли им доверять?

The Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine warns of a potential wave of rumors and so-called "peace plans" in the coming months. These could flood global media ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration as President of the United States. The event is scheduled for January 20, 2025.

As reported by CCD head Andriy Kovalenko on Telegram, such rumors will often be based on dubious "insider" information referencing "high-ranking sources" or "the inner circle." This will create the appearance of diplomatic efforts and "negotiations" in the media.

Kovalenko also noted that Russia may exploit these information waves for its own interests, while some media outlets may seek to boost their popularity without always distinguishing their narratives from Russian propaganda.

"It is crucial for us to separate the work of journalists from the influence of Russian propagandists in these narratives, who always manipulate such information triggers. In any case, the truth and the real state of affairs in these scenarios will generally be scarce in the media. However, there will be plenty of theories," he emphasized.

According to Kovalenko, in most cases, there will be little real information in such reports. Speculation and theories will predominantly prevail.

Statements from the U.S. regarding several Trump peace plans and the lost Crimea

Recently, Brian Lanza, an advisor to the newly elected U.S. president, stated that the return of Crimea to Ukraine seems unlikely, which also caused significant resonance in the media. Presidential Office advisor Dmytro Lytvyn emphasized that Ukraine is not a party seeking to escalate the conflict. He noted that he does not take the Republican strategist's words seriously. Lytvyn also reminded about Ukraine's strategy for a just peace.

It is also worth mentioning that American media are already reporting on a potential peace plan from Donald Trump, which involves providing Ukraine with weapons in exchange for a freeze on the war and delaying Ukraine's NATO membership. This plan proposes the creation of a buffer zone supported by European troops without U.S. involvement. It implies Ukraine's abandonment of attempts to reclaim occupied territories and a focus on long-term peace.
