On December 5, detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted searches at the home of the current chairman of the Economic Court of Lviv Region, Vasyl Artymovych, and the former chairman of the Western Appeal Economic Court, Borys Plotnytskyi.

Cash Found with the Judges
During the investigative actions, law enforcement discovered a significant amount of cash. According to sources, Artymovych and Plotnytskyi had one million dollars in their possession. The investigation suspects that this money was demanded for making favorable decisions in economic cases.
Who Are Artymovych and Plotnytskyi
Vasyl Artymovych has headed the Economic Court of Lviv Region since March 2023. According to his declaration, the judge owns four apartments, a garage, a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, and a rented 2019 Skoda Superb. He declared a salary of 1.5 million UAH and 60,000 dollars in cash.
Borys Plotnytskyi led the Western Appeal Economic Court since 2018 but was dismissed and retired in August 2024. In his latest declaration, he listed seven plots of land, four apartments, two residential houses, as well as a 2020 Volkswagen T-roc and a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S350CDI. His income includes over 1.7 million UAH in salary, 175,000 UAH in pension, and 2.4 million UAH in cash.
What’s Next
Journalist Vitaliy Hlahola reported that both judges have been detained. They are charged with extorting illegal benefits. Searches were also conducted in offices and premises related to their activities.
The investigation continues, and society is awaiting a fair examination of this high-profile case.
