On Sunday, November 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to the statement made by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk regarding the timeline and conditions for ending the war in Ukraine, which are expected to be announced soon in the USA. The Ministry emphasized that no negotiations or decisions about the war in Ukraine can be made without official Kyiv's involvement. It is crucial to adhere to this principle, as military actions are taking place on Ukrainian territory. Only Ukraine will determine the parameters for a just peace.
This was the response from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tykhyy, regarding the statement by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Tykhyy added that since the war is occurring in Ukraine, the final decision will rest with Kyiv, which will also set the parameters for upcoming negotiations.
"The war is taking place on Ukrainian soil, so it is Ukraine that will determine the parameters for a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace," Tykhyy stated.
The spokesperson explained that all peace-loving countries should be interested in ensuring that the end of the war in Ukraine is fair, respects territorial integrity, and honors Ukraine's sovereignty, in accordance with universally recognized international norms and the principles of the UN Charter.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the USA may soon declare a date for the cessation of hostilities between Ukraine and Russia. Furthermore, Washington is reportedly set to announce a demarcation line and security guarantees for Ukraine.
In response to a question about a potential peace plan from Donald Trump, Tusk noted that this plan is still in preparation. He suggested that statements regarding the timing of a ceasefire, boundary demarcation, and security guarantees for Kyiv can be expected soon. Tusk also expressed the view that the USA would make decisions with less involvement in Ukrainian affairs.
At the same time, the Polish Prime Minister emphasized that resolving issues concerning the war in Ukraine must consider the interests of both Ukraine and Poland.
Czech President Petr Pavel believes that newly elected US President Donald Trump will attempt to negotiate with Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding the end of the war in Ukraine. He thinks such an agreement would not be advantageous for Kyiv, which may lose part of its territory. Pavel argues that EU countries need to increase arms supplies to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO in Europe, retired Admiral James Stavridis, believes that it is impossible to negotiate the de-occupation of territories seized by Russia. He stated that Russia will retain 20% of Ukrainian land after a ceasefire agreement based on the current front line. At the same time, Ukraine may become a NATO member within a few years.
