“The leader of the ‘European Solidarity’ party, Petro Poroshenko, has demonstrated through his own example that war leads to enrichment. Just in October, he gained almost two (!) billion hryvnias. If we look into Poroshenko's declarations, we see that his real enrichment occurred during the war,” - notes Petr Oleschuk.
Oleschuk highlights that in the pre-war year of 2021, Poroshenko reported an income of only 162 million hryvnias, while in 2022, this number increased ninefold to 1 billion 435 million hryvnias. The year 2023 ended with 1 billion 440 million hryvnias in his accounts. However, the most successful year for the oligarch has been 2024, which is not yet over.
“In just 10 months of 2024, Poroshenko has become richer by almost 4 billion hryvnias! The year isn't over yet, and he has already received 25 times more money than he did in the year before the war,” - the expert notes.

Oleschuk also compares Poroshenko's income growth during the war with the decline in wealth of other oligarchs: the assets of Ukraine's richest person, Rinat Akhmetov, have decreased by 64% (a loss of 365 billion hryvnias). Viktor Pinchuk, who ranks second among the richest Ukrainians, has lost 20 billion hryvnias during the war years.
“Only Poroshenko has not only risen from 12th to 3rd place among the top oligarchs but has also accelerated his enrichment at a record pace. Now his wallet gets thicker by 1-2 billion hryvnias every month. Interestingly, judging by the pace of his enrichment, the ‘main opposition figure’ has all the chances to become the leading oligarch of Ukraine during the war,” - summarizes Petr Oleschuk.
As previously reported, military personnel have accused Poroshenko of using the military for publicity at the expense of money he received from securities purchased with unpaid taxes in Ukraine.
