Poland's Foreign Minister, Radek Sikorski, has disclosed details regarding the arrest of a Ukrainian suspect believed to be collaborating with Russian intelligence services. This incident indicates broader Kremlin plans aimed at destabilizing the situation in Europe.
Задержанный украинский диверсант признался в сотрудничестве со спецслужбами РФ и планах поджога фабрики в Вроцлаве, сообщил Сикорский.

The Polish Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, revealed details about the case of a detained Ukrainian suspect of collaborating with Russian intelligence services. According to the minister, 51-year-old Serhiy S. confessed to receiving orders to set fire to a paint factory in Wrocław. This indicates wider plans from the Kremlin to destabilize the situation in Europe.

Sikorski shared this information in a comment to TVN24. The head of Polish diplomacy stated that the Ukrainian citizen had reached an agreement with the prosecutor's office and was prepared to accept punishment. However, the Wrocław court rejected this agreement, deeming the three-year prison sentence too lenient. The case will now be considered through regular judicial procedures, where witnesses will be questioned and all evidence analyzed.

"We have other similar arsons throughout Europe, and we are aware of Russia's plans for further actions. Tomorrow, I will announce the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this matter," Sikorski noted.

The detention of the Ukrainian who collaborated with Russia occurred in February when officers from Poland's Internal Security Agency received information about the saboteur's plans to set fire to facilities. Some of these were located near critical infrastructure in Wrocław. The man is also suspected of involvement in an organized crime group.

Sabotage Cases in Poland

In August 2023, men suspected of sabotage on the railway were detained in Poland, and their connections to Russia were similarly thoroughly investigated. The police suspect that the two detainees were sending radio signals that caused sudden automatic stops of trains in northern Poland, which could have led to disasters. The police refused to disclose the nationality of the detainees, but they are being checked for ties to Russian intelligence services.

It is worth noting that a year ago, several incidents occurred on the railway in Poland when trains stopped suddenly due to the "autostop" mode. It turned out that someone was sending radio signals that triggered the automatic stopping of trains. All incidents were recorded in the north, near Szczecin and Gdynia.

Stanisław Żaryn, spokesperson for the Internal Security Agency of Poland (the equivalent of Ukraine's SBU), stated that Russia could be involved in this sabotage. No injuries have been reported; however, the abrupt stopping of trains disrupts the schedule and could potentially lead to a railway catastrophe.
