The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, revealed whom Russian leader Vladimir Putin fears. According to him, he is afraid of the newly elected U.S. leader Donald Trump and possibly China. He also added that the determination of partners is essential for ensuring peace in Ukraine.
The head of state shared this on X. He emphasized the importance of working together on how to end the war in Ukraine.
“I told President Trump that Putin only fears him and perhaps China. And that is true. Only determination can bring this war to a just conclusion and ensure lasting peace. We must act now to restore the proper international order,” – stated Zelensky.
He also commented on discussions about lowering the conscription age for Ukrainians. He noted that Ukraine “should not compensate for the lack of equipment and training with young soldiers.”
For this reason, as Zelensky added, lowering the conscription age is not currently a priority. The main focus should be on supplying missiles and reducing Russia's military potential.
“The most important thing is to work together on how to end this war. This is our top priority. This is what we concentrated on during the meeting in Paris, and it was a very productive conversation,” – concluded the president.
On December 7, Volodymyr Zelensky met with Donald Trump in Paris. The latter arrived in the French capital for the opening of the legendary Notre-Dame (Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris) dressed in symbolic attire - the newly elected U.S. leader wore a blue suit and a yellow tie. Following the meeting with Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that it was productive, and Trump is determined. According to Zelensky, peace through strength is possible. He added that the value of the meeting lies in the fact that partners heard Ukraine's clear position "not from third parties."
Zelensky also remarked that the meeting with President Trump "was good," discussing particularly "important matters on the battlefield in Ukraine and the global situation - from our front to North Korea." However, this did not prevent the Ukrainian leader from rejecting the American's proposal for an immediate ceasefire in response to claims that Ukraine is supposedly ready to negotiate with the RF.
